A Great Success Story

This is another article a coworker sent me about Butte Creek. This is the watershed that flows by Teresa's house and the salmon are the same salmon that I have swam with. Pretty amazing how the removal of fish barriers has completely rejuvenated a population of wild salmon. The Butte Creek run of salmon is probably the most successful restoration story I've heard of.

Last year, Teresa's brother Ben made a video of the salmon in Butte Creek.

A must read...

A coworker sent me this link about the first foreign engineering team to have access to China after the 8.0 earthquake hit a few weeks ago.

It is amazing how different types of building construction hold up to earthquakes. Many of the collapsed buildings in China were made using a type of construction that has been banned in California. It is scary to hear about other countries in the Ring of Fire that have buildings similar to the ones in China. Hopefully this team can get the word out.

Welcome to my blog site.

Hello family and friends,

I have created this site in order for us to stay in touch and share our adventures together. Please feel free to comment and share ideas with me. I will be updating shortly with pictures and descriptions of trips taken recently. This weekend, I will be headed to Mt. Shasta to attempt a summit with some coworkers. The mountain looks pretty bare and there has been a lot of rockfall reported on the Mt. Shasta Avalanche site:

I will upload a trip report when I return. In the meantime, have a great week and I will be in touch.
